A survey conducted by United Agriculture Products
reveals that above all else, crop producers want their
suppliers to provide dependable crop production
information they can use to make informed decisions. The
survey results have prompted several agri-businesses in
the region to put together a
"first-of-its-kind" crop science and technology
clinic. Crop Production Management Day (CPM Day for short) is set for March 9 at the Fargodome in Fargo, ND. According to Jim Satter of UAP Ostlund, who chairs the CPM Day planning committee, the event is an opportunity for growers to gather the latest information on crop production management in a hands-on atmosphere. "This is not just another farm show," says Satter. "This is more like an advanced agronomy and crop production management course packed into a one-day session." "CPM Day will include a wide variety of hands-on technology training and information sessions by more than 25 leading agri-businesses," says Satter. For example, one area will feature demonstrations of precise pesticide application using a GPS-enabled spray plane. "Participants can actually sit in the plane and experience a simulation of the process," says Satter. "Novartis is also bringing its 80-foot technical van," says Satter. "Up to 30 growers at a time can use the vans on-board computer technology to analyze their farming information and examine various management options." "These are just a few examples of the many informational sessions that will be presented at CPM Day," says Satter. "All of our sessions will feature hands-on demonstrations including live plants and their pests, real-time electronic information, and dynamic educational speakers." Due to the hands-on nature of the event, registration for CPM Day is limited. For registration information, see your local Red River Farm Network radio station, Case-IH or ag chem dealer. Or, call the CPM Day staff at 218-253-4391 for more information. In the spirit of fostering continued development of CPM technologies, net proceeds from CPM Day will be donated to university research projects. |
