What’s The Diff?
New to this issue of Prairie Grains is “What’s the Diff?” Some of you may think it’s corny, some of you will love it. But it’s meant
to be entertaining, to challenge your brain and to provide a few factoids about agriculture at the same time.

For the answers (and to learn more about BarleyCAP), visit www.smallgrains.org/whatsthediff.
There, you can also provide your feedback (like it? hate it?) and even submit photos and factoids for future issues. Have fun!
What is BarleyCAP? The Barley CAP (Coordinated Agricultural Project for Barley) is a USDA/CSREES-funded project that involves government, public and private laboratories. It
links laboratory and field research with education and outreach in an effort to use modern tools of genomics to facilitate classical plant breeding efforts to develop superior barley varieties.
In the Photo: USDA created four Regional Genotyping Centers to service small grain breeding programs.
These centralized facilities vastly increase the efficiency of generating marker data and eliminate the need for individual researchers to equip their own labs to carry out genotyping.
