A Distinguished Voice for Ag Research
With a distinctive voice, Tom Anderson probably could have had a great career narrating shows on the Discovery Channel.
But the Barnesville, Minn. Farmer applied that voice in another channel of discovery – agricultural research, where he made an indelible mark.
Tom was a leader in obtaining state and federal funding for Fusarium Head Blight (scab) research. He was instrumental in establishing the U.S.
Wheat & Barley Scab Initiative (USWBSI) and served as the national initiative’s co-chair since its founding. He helped initiate and was chair of the Minnesota Small Grains Research and
Communications Committee, and was a member of the Sugarbeet Research & Education Board of Minnesota & North Dakota for several years. He was recognized with numerous awards for his contributions and
commitment to ag research.
Tom Anderson, 59, died July 23, 2007 following a lengthy battle with cancer. We’ll miss that voice, a distinguished voice for agricultural research.
