MAWG Resolutions for 2006
Following are some of the new and amended farm policy resolutions approved by members of the Minnesota Association of Wheat Growers for 2006. The entire list of MAWG policy resolutions

The Minnesota Assn. of Wheat Growers:
- supports the continuation or extension of the 2002 farm bill.
- supports cash settlements on the MGE spring wheat futures contracts
- supports further reform of crop insurance to accurately reflect crop quality losses including falling numbers and updating quality adjustment factors.
- supports the option of insuring on a whole farm revenue basis.
- believes shrink should be standardized and based on FGIS actual shrink charts
- supports seeking legislation that creates a state indemnity fund that protects producer sales against merchandiser insolvency and is fair and equitable to all producers.
- opposes the closing or downsizing of any Minnesota FSA or NRCS offices
- opposes the creation of the new college at the University of Minnesota that does not include a component for production agriculture
- supports reform of Minnesota’s eminent domain law to ensure that eminent domain is used only for public purposes and not for private economic development
- supports allowing continuous CRP to be enrolled above the 25% county max
- opposes re-establishment of base acres on CRP acres
- opposes the legislature or any local units of government passing any law preventing farmers from planting seed approved by the federal government
- opposes the redeliniation of wetlands by NRCS and supports the use of the original wetland determinations for certification
- supports the Minnesota Department of Agriculture’s on-farm liquid fertilizer storage proposal, but opposes on-farm inspection or permit fees of any kind
- supports raising the maximum valuation eligible for Ag homestead tax credit from $600,000 to $1,000,000.
