The North Dakota Ag Foundation promoted the state’s agricultural sector earlier this year through its annual Congressional Staff Tour.

Seven people from Washington, D.C. involved with agriculture or natural resources in the federal government participated in the tour, which included a farm stay on a grain or livestock operation.

Participants toured the Southwest Grain terminal in Gladstone, Stockman’s Livestock Exchange in Dickinson, and met with many of the state’s commodity groups as well as Sarah Vogel, ND Ag Commissioner.

A visit to a county fair, the State Heritage Center, and historic Medora gave participants a feel for North Dakota culture. Many grain and livestock producers met with participants on various legs of the tour, and shared their thoughts on various agricultural issues. The tour was the tenth annual for the Ag Foundation, which promotes the state’s ag interests through public and legislative education. The North Dakota Grain Growers Association plays a key role in coordinating the tour.
